A rather expensive bus ride from La Paz (and 2 and a half hours), found us in Cabo San Lucas.

The bus station saw us deposited a few kilometres from the waterfront, but in our usual style, we slapped on some sunscreen and began the trek (on what felt a pretty warm day).

It wasn’t long before all the signs were quickly indicating that this was a (western) tourist destination indeed. Many signs in were in both Spanish and English, people began to hawk at us in English, and before long, the ATM’s had signs stating they only issued currency in $US!

We hit the waterfront in short time, and once you found the harbour, you could see this was where the rich kids came to play.

Most of the vessels moored, had both American and Mexican flags fluttering, and home ports at coastal cities all over the states.

This was one place we had no difficulty locating other tourists!

Still, we had a purpose. To see Lands End, the Arch (at the bottom tip of Baja known as Lands End there is a large, natural arch) and hopefully some of the Sea Lion colony if possible.

Water Taxi’s all around the harbour tried to sell us trips there and back, but we had it in our minds to try and walk there, so thus our trek began.

Battling a rising tide, meant there were times we were either wading, or climbing over rocky outcrops (sometimes both), but we managed to get to Lovers Beach & Divorce Beach, the penultimate destinations just shy of our goal.

But that was as far as we could get.

With the tide in, there was no means we could walk any further, so we were resigned to heading back to the harbour, and sourcing a vessel to get us there.

But not before we had ourselves a snorkel!

We’d brought ours along, so it was great to finally get them out and have a dip in one of the sheltered bays.

Refreshed, we continued on back to the harbour, where Sarah haggled us onto a vessel, and we finally got our trip to Lands End.

Passing beaches we’d already explored, we didn’t have any need/desire to stop there again, so for us it was straight out to the point.

Unfortunately, there was only one lazing Sea Lion about, but it wasn’t long before the Arch was sighted, and we quickly saw our assessment to not attempt our journey any further by foot was a sound one indeed.

Once back in the harbour, it was time for a late lunch before our bus ride back to La Paz, and we already had a destination in mind, Venado.

This place had been recommended as one of the best purveyors of the Taco Pescado in all of Baja.

After our so-so feelings towards the also highly recommended place in La Paz, we tempered our expectations I suspect.

However, this place was brilliant (and completely devoid of tourists)!

I suspect it will remain one of the best meals we enjoy in Mexico.

We’re glad we only ordered one each to start with, as this place served enough additional toppings, tostadas, and even a warm bowl of frijoles to fill us up and more!
