To the east of Melbourne lies the Yarra Valley (about an hour from the city).

This picturesque area is perhaps most famous for its Vineyards, and many a grape grazing tour can be spotted in these parts.

But as enticing (at least for us), is the beautiful fare served up at the Yarra Valley Dairy.

With its range of local produce and delicious dairy fare, it has these days become a real destination, so it was really with vain hope that we arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon in the hope of acquiring a table.

But luck was with us, perhaps due to our small number (it was just the 2 of us) we barely had any wait for a table, so promptly ordered teas and a cheese platter.

It wasn’t a bad view to be had either, with rolling hills and brown fields that echoed of the hot summer we had had, and on occasion swarms of Starlings would zoom about, showing off the flight ability that we simply don’t have.

Still, it wasn’t long before our cheeses arrived (a delicious mix of 2 Goats cheeses, and 2 made from Cows milk), paired with a beetroot relish and a decent selection of breads.

Let me be clear, we love our cheese, nor was this our first visit. So it really was no surprise when it was all incredibly delicious!
